Tennis Finishes Fourth at 2008 NCAC Tournament

Two Sunday losses sent the Wabash tennis team to a fourth place finish at the 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament. The Little Giants lost 5-1 to Denison in the semifinals before falling 5-4 to Allegheny in the finals.

Juniors Jay Horrey and Sean Clerget scored the only victory for the Little Giants in their match against Denison. The duo took an 8-5 win at number two doubles, their second consecutive victory in the tournament.

Wabash took two of three doubles matches against the Gators in the finals. Horrey and Clerget took an 8-4 win at number two doubles. The victory was the 54th of Horrey's career, tying him with Adam Van Zee '07 for second on the Wabash all-time doubles win list. Will Pelak and Ryan Tennyson combined for an 8-2 win at number one doubles.

Horrey scored a three-set victory at number two singles to give Wabash a 3-2 lead in the team scoring. He defeated Allegheny's Matt Winters 6-1, 0-6, 6-2. Ricky Ritter gave the Little Giants a shot at the overall win by posting a 7-5, 6-4 victory at number four singles. The fourth-seeded Gators took the final two singles matches to move past the third-seeded Wabash squad.

Wabash finishes the season with a 12-14 mark.
