Tennis Team Nets All-Conference Honors

Four members of the Wabash tennis team have earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors for their efforts throughout the 2007-08 season. Freshmen Will Pelak, Luke Bielawski, and Ryan Tennyson joined junior Jay Horrey as members of the All-NCAC squad.

Pelak (right) earned First Team honors after posting a 19-12 record this spring for the Little Giants. The McLean, Virginia native was ranked throughout most of the spring season in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region rankings. Pelak had a 7-3 tournament record in his rookie season and had a 5-1 mark in NCAC contests.

Bielawski (left) and Horrey each were named to the Second Team. Bielawski was 18-5 in the spring, including a 13-2 mark at number two singles. He was also 2-1 against regionally-ranked opponents and a perfect 5-0 in NCAC matches.

Horrey (below right) made the All-NCAC team for the third consecutive year. The 2006 Newcomer of the Year and 2006 and 2007 First Team honoree returned from a fall semester studying overseas to post a 13-9 record overall record. He was 8-5 as a number three singles player and 4-2 in the number two flight. Horrey currently ranks second in Wabash career history with 55 wins and is fifth in career winning percentage (.679).

Tennyson (below left) joined with Bielawski to earn Second Team All-NCAC doubles honors. The duo finished 6-9 overall, picking up four wins at number one doubles. Tennyson was also named the Little Giants' Most Improved Player.

The four All-Conference honors are the most for the Wabash tennis team since joining the league. Wabash had its highest finish in the NCAC Men's Tournament this year, taking fourth place. The Little Giants also received their highest ITA Regional ranking, moving to 16th on the poll late in the spring season.
