Juniors Brett Findley (Bargersville, IN/Franklin Community) and Stephen Birrer (Indianapolis, IN/Brownsburg) each had lifetime-best swims in the meet for the Little Giants.
Fahey took the only first-place finish for the Little Giants, touching first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.98. Hewitt was right behind, taking second after hitting the pad in 1:03.00.
Findley swam a lifetime best in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:05.96), finishing second. Freshman Jason Thompson (Seymour, IN/Seymour) was third with a time of 10:52.88.
Birrer's lifetime best time came in the 100-yard freestyle, earning a second-place finish with a time of 48.94.
Wabash had top finishes in every event, but could not generate enough team points to overcome the Indianapolis lead. The Little Giants took all but first place in the 100-yard freestyle. Michael Brickman (Richmond Heights, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin School) took third in the event, just behind Birrer with a time of 51.98. Karl Grimmer (Griffith, IN/Griffith) was fourth (53.87), while Thompson took fifth place (54.48).
The 200-yard medley relay team of Dennis Bowers (Seymour, IN/Seymour), Brandon Peacock (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville), Birrer, and Fahey took second place after swimming a 1:40.61. The Wabash team of Jeddah Wegerhoff (Avon, IN/Avon), Nick Collins (Michigantown, IN/Clinton Central), Christopher Bly (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence North), and Hewitt finished third (1:49.37).
Freshman Matt Perkins (Indianapolis, IN/Brownsburg) was second in the 200 free (1:52.69). Fahey and Peacock were 2-3 in the 50 free. Fahey took second with a time of 22.83, while Peacock was third with a swim of 23.10.
Junior Demetrian Cook (Woodbridge, VA/C.D. Hylton Senior) took second place in both diving events, scoring 127.80 points in one-meter diving and 112.50 on the three-meter board.
Hewitt was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.40), with Collins taking third (2:08.97) and Weggerhoff finishing fourth (2:12.79). Findley added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (55.39), as did Bowers in the 100-yard backstroke (56.86). Collins added a second-place finish in the 500 free (5:10.83).
Wabash also took second in the final relay, the 200-yard freestyle. Perkins, Brickman, Birrer, and Findley combined for a time of 1:29.75. Andrew Roy (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville), Gabe Grevenstuck (Door, MI/Wayland), Jeremy West (Indianapolis, IN/Columbus North), and Thompson took third in the race.
Wabash will continue training throughout the holiday season, traveling to Florida after Christmas to swim the Boca Raton Ocean Mile on December 29.
