Short Earns More All-American Honors

Senior tight end Ryan Short (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) has been named to two more 2002 All-American teams. The record-setting receiver was named a D3Football.com First Team All-American, and was an Associated Press Third Team Little All-American.

Short was selected to both teams after finishing the season with 71 receptions for 705 yards and 17 touchdowns. His 17 scoring catches broke his own school and North Coast Athletic Conference record of 13 set in 2000 and again in 2001. He caught four TD passes in the Monon Bell victory against DePauw, tying a school record and setting a Monon Bell Classic record. He finished his career with 45 touchdown receptions, more than any other receiver in Indiana collegiate history. Short also finished with a school-record 243 receptions, and finished third on the Wabash career receiving yards list with 2,773.

Short was recently named to the Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-North Region First Team and earned Hewlett-Packard First Team All-American honors for the second consecutive season. He was a preseason First Team All-American selection by Street & Smith's, D3Football.com, and Don Hansen's Football Gazette. He was a Lindy's College Football Annual Second Team Preseason All-American selection. Short was a Don Hansen's Football Gazette and D3Football.com Second Team All-American selection, as well. Short was a First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference member in 2002 and 2001. He earned Second Team All-Conference honors in 2000.

Short is also a member of the Wabash College basketball team. Less than 24 hours after his final football game as a Little Giant, he played in Wabash's NCAC opener against Denison University. He is averaging 3.7 points per game on the hardwood for the Little Giants this season. He was the third-leading scorer for the Wabash squad last season, averaging 11.3 points per contest.
