Little Giants Rebound With Tie at Chicago

One day after losing its first soccer match of the season, Wabash rebounded to earn a 1-1 tie at the University of Chicago Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Andrew Pearcy scored his first goal of the season with a blast just before halftime to put the Little Giants in front 1-0. The Maroons tied the match in the 53rd minute off a goal from Edgar Friloux.

Wabash put a shot on goal in each of the two overtime periods, but could not get anything past Chicago goaltender Chris Giusto. Wabash goalie Pat West made five saves in 110 minutes of action in net for the Little Giants.

"Chicago is always a very good team, so I'm pleased with the way we rebounded on the road after a tough loss Saturday at Aurora," head coach Roberto Giannini said. "We had some chances, including one by Austin Jennings in front of the goalkeeper in the final two minutes of the second overtime. A mistake in the second half allowed Chicago to tie the match after we made a picture-perfect goal in the first half."

Wabash (2-1-1) travels to Rose-Hulman Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. match against the Fighting Engineers.
