Soccer Team Drops 3-1 Decision at Rose

Junior David Rosborough's last second goal could not offset a first-half penalty kick and two second-half goals for Rose-Hulman in Wabash's 3-1 loss to the Fighting Engineers Wednesday night in Terre Haute.

"We fought hard but we were disconnected as a team with the exception of maybe 10 or 15 minutes in the first half," head coach Roberto Giannini said. "Now we'll head back to the drawing board as a team. We've got a lot of work to do."

Rose-Hulman's Joe Salisbury scored on a penalty kick in the final minute of the first half to put the Engineers in front. Rose added a second goal in the first four minutes of the second period, then added a third on a corner kick with less than three minutes remaining in the contest.

Rosborough (above left) picked up his first goal of the season and second of his career when he took a pass from freshman Allan Swan just outside of the box and drilled an attempt into the upper left corner of the net. The assist was the first of the year for Swan. The goal also snapped Rose-Hulman's streak of three consecutive shutouts.

The Little Giants attempted 11 shots to 12 for Rose (4-2). Goalkeeper Pat West recorded four saves for Wabash out of seven total shots on goal.

Wabash (2-2-1) returns to Mud Hollow Field Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. contest against Transylvania University.
