The Crawfordsville Community Chorus invites those who love part singing to attend its first rehearsal September 16th at 7 p.m. in Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, 307 S. Washington Street, Crawfordsville. The group will meet weekly on Tuesdays preparing for a one-hour family concert at 7 p.m. on December 14th in the Pioneer Chapel at Wabash College.
This year’s project is Ralph Vaughn Williams’ "The First Nowell" a Nativity Cantata with carols, soloists, speaking roles, and full chamber orchestra to celebrate Christmas. A grant from the Montgomery County Community Foundation is financing this project.
The Chorus was founded in 1951 to study and share good choral literature. It is made up of choristers, professional soloists, high school and college students, music teachers and hobby singers from west central Indiana. New members are welcomed each season. First-timers are invited to "sample us at their first rehearsal" without commitment; the chorus uses the west parking lot and the west church entrance. Each rehearsal concludes with a refreshment hour.
Dr. Richard Bowen at Wabash College is musical director. The planning committee includes Carolyn Baer, David Blix, Kurt Homann, Eileen Bowen, Janice Clauser, and Sheila Evans who can be contacted by email or phone at 765-362-6274. Part leaders are Miranda Christie, June Martin, Debbie Swanson, and Mark Wollenberg.
