Freshman Donavan White posted a top-10 finish in his first collegiate 8,000-meter cross country race, crossing the finish line in eighth place at the annual Great Lakes Colleges Association Championship meet. The Wabash team finished fourth out of eight teams.
White (right) finished the race with a time of 26:47, trailing freshman winner Dee Salukombo from Denison and his top time of 26:04. Fellow Little Giant freshman Kevin McCarthy took 13th place with a time of 26:54. Grahm Johnson showed his recovery from last year's injury is nearly complete, posting a 16th place finish with a time of 27:05.
Hugh Jackson was 25th overall (27:28), while Micah Milliman — who also missed all of last season with an injury — completed the team scoring by finishing 27th (27:31).
Hope College won the team competition with 57 points, followed by Denison (59), Oberlin (74), and Wabash (89). Ohio Wesleyan (91), Albion (116), Earlham (7), and Kalamazoo (255) took the next four spots.
The Little Giants return to action Friday afternoon at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships at Indiana University in Bloomington.
