Wabash Soccer Falls at Allegheny

A mentally and physically exhausted Wabash soccer team travelled eight hours to Meadville, Pennsylvania for a Saturday morning match, falling 8-1 to the Gators in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Sophomore Mark Babcock (right) scored the lone Wabash goal on a penalty kick late in the first half.

"I believe events that took place this week caught up with us mentally," head coach Roberto Giannini said. "We were not prepared to play and had seven goals scored against us in the first 25 minutes of the match.

We have to gain our mental strength and try to refocus this week. We have to put this match behind us. We know we are not normally the type of team that gives up eight goals."

Wabash will regroup with two NCAC matches this week. The Little Giants travel to Wittenberg Wednesday night, then play host to Hiram Saturday afternoon.
