Wabash stayed even in shot attempts and shots on goal with Hiram Saturday afternoon, but fell on the short end of a 3-0 score against the Terriers in North Coast Athletic Conference men's soccer action at Mud Hollow Field.
The Little Giants outshot Hiram 12-10. The Terriers had two more shots on goal than Wabash with an 8-6 edge. Philip Major put one of the shots into the back of the net in the 39th minute for the first goal. Hiram (10-4-0, 3-2-0 NCAC) scored twice in the second period.
"We could not catch a break in the match," head coach Roberto Giannini said. "We took as many shot as they did. Hiram found a way to score, to take advantage of our mistakes. We had good opportunities, but either their goalkeeper would make a save or we just missed connection with the ball for a good shot."
Freshman Austin Jennings led Wabash with four shots and three on net.
Wabash (4-8-3, 0-6-0 NCAC) will play Franklin College Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at home.
