Wabash Opens Swim Season With Fifth at 2008 NCAC Relays

The Wabash swim team started the 2008-09 season with a fourth- and two fifth-place finishes at the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Relays Saturday at Kenyon College and Denison University. The Little Giants finished fifth out of nine men’s teams.

Juniors Craig Vetor and Nick Rockefeller joined with sophomores Eric Vaughn and Adam Current for fourth in the 200 backstroke relay with a time of 1:41.20. Vetor, senior Jordon Blackwell, sophomore Robert Fozkos, and freshman Logan Falley were fifth in the 500 freestyle crescendo relay.

Falley, combined with veteran distance swimmers Elijah Sanders and Chad Woods, grabbed fifth in the 1500 free relay (15:02.28). Vetor, Fozkos, Blackwell, and Blaine Cooper-Surma were sixth in the 200 free relay.

The Little Giants finished with 92 total points. Denison won the men’s competition with 170 points. Kenyon (152) was second, followed by Wooster (96) and Wittenberg (94). Oberlin (76) and Allegheny (76) tied for sixth with Ohio Wesleyan (50) and Hiram (30) completing the team scoring.

Wabash will travel to Terre Haute November 1 to compete in a double-dual meet against Rose-Hulman and Transylvania.
