Monday, January 19
9 a.m. - 5 p.m., MXIBS Exhibit: "Black Crawfordsville: Then and Now," Malcolm X Institute
The Exhibit, "Black Crawfordsville: Then and Now," will be open from 9 am to 5 pm in the MXIBS rotunda. It is a collaboration of items from the Wabash College Archives and various constituencies in the community including Bethel AME Church, the Carnegie Museum, the Crawfordsville Library, and Second Baptist Church which focuses on the presence of Black people in the Crawfordsville area.
9:55 a.m., Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration March, Chapel
A march will held in Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. beginning at 9:55 a.m. in front of the Chapel.
7 p.m., Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Speaker—Dr. Cain Hope Felder, Chapel
Dr. Cain Hope Felder, professor of New Testament Language and Literature and editor of The Journal of Religious Thought at the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC, will be the speaker. Free and open to the public.
8-9:30 p.m., Opening reception for Art Exhibit—Brad Bernard: Blues Routes, Eric Dean Gallery, Fine Arts Center.
The musical performance of Mississippi blues and the ritual workshop of gospel culture inspire the work of Brad Bernard, whose paintings pan religious and secular contexts. Bernard's depictions of Pentacostal or Missionary Baptist services use mixed-media to create a three-dimensional quality, while his secular images are created with digitally altered photographs, maps, or wallpaper, implying a "quilt-work of location and identity." His exhibit will continue through February 20. Free and open to the public.

8 p.m., Wabash Pastoral Leadership Program Lecture by Ronald Heifetz, Salter Hall, Fine Arts Center.
Heifetz is with the Center for Public Leadership, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. His talk is free and open to the public.
Wednesday, January 21

8 p.m., Classics Lecture by Richard Thomas, Harvard Univ., Lovell Lecture Room (101), Baxter Hall. Free and open to the public. Thomas will give a talk on "What is a Classic? Revisted: Eliot, Graves, Auden and Lowell."

8 p.m., Lecture by Father Pat Reardon, "Christianity & Culture", Baxter Hall, room 101
Father Pat Reardon is pastor of All Saints' Orthodox Church in Chicago, IL, and a senior editor of Touchstone magazine. He has authored many books including: Christ in the Psalms, Christ in His Saints, The Trial of Job: Orthodox Christian Reflections on the Book of Job, Chronicles of History and Worship: Orthodox Christian Reflections on the Books of Chronicles, and Creation and the Patriarchal Histories: Orthodox Reflections on the Book of Genesis. He will give a talk on "Christianity & Culture." His talk is free and open to the public.

Since 2001, the Wabash community has gathered the last Friday afternoon of January to share in the impressive work of Wabash students at the Celebration of Student Research, Scholarship, and Creative Work. By vote of the faculty, afternoon classes are cancelled on this day so that all members of the community may attend. Free and open to the public.

This monthly calendar is for the purpose of letting you know What’s Happening on the campus of Wabash College. In celebration of the arts at Wabash, admission to all events on this year’s Visiting Artists Series and Theater productions are FREE. However, you must reserve your FREE tickets at the Fine Arts Box Office before attending Visiting Artists Series and Theater productions.
Tickets are available from the Fine Arts Box Office Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1:30 to 4 p.m. The Box Office will open 90 minutes before curtain time for theater and VAS events. For phone reservations, call 765-361-6411.
