Thinclads Second at NCAC Relays

Wabash finished second at the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Relays Saturday afternoon at Denison University. The Little Giants scored 62 total points thanks, in part, to a first-place finish by Emmanuel Aouad and Wade Heiny in the 55-meter hurdles.

Aouad won the race with a time of 7.84 to earn a share of ten total team points. Heiny's time of 8.11 was good for fifth place to give the pair a combined time of 15.95. Ohio Wesleyan's Steve Brown and Andrew Bloom were second with a total time of 15.99.

Wes Chamblee added another 5-1/2 points in the high jump relay. He tied for the top spot by clearing 1.80 meters (5 feet, 10-3/4 inches). Aouad and Jake Zielinski were fourth in the long jump relay with a total distance of 11.90 meters (39 feet, one-half inch). Aouad was third overall with a mark of 6.37 meters (20-10.75).

Matt Scheller and Kyle Edwards combined for second place in the shot put relay. Scheller was fifth overall (14.14 meters; 46 feet, 4-3/4 inches) while Edwards took eight place (13.26 meters; 43 feet, 6 inches). Their total distance was 27.30 meters (89 feet, 10-3/4 inches).

Hugh Jackson and Justin Allen took fourth place in the 5000-meter relay. Jackson was ninth overall (15:45.36) while Allen was 13th (15:56.26) for a total time of 31:41.62. Sam Glowinski added a sixth-place finish in the pole vault relay (3.20 meters; 10 feet, 6 inches) to score 3-1/2 points for the Little Giants.

Wabash added a second place result in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:36.38. The Little Giants were third in the 4x200 (1:34.68) and the 4x800 (8:06.65), and were fourth in the 4x400 (3:32.32).

The Little Giants return to action Friday, February 6 at the DePauw Invitational.
