Wabash finished the dual meet portion of its 2008-09 season Friday night with a 193-87 loss to Kalamazoo College in South Bend, Indiana.
Chad Woods scored the lone victory of the evening for the Little Giants, winning the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:07.11. Craig Vetor added two second-place finishes --- one in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.98) and another in the 500-yard free (4:58.44). The junior was also third in the 100 free with a time of 48.03. Jordon Blackwell joined Vetor in a top-three spot in the 200 free (1:48.71) and a third in the 50 free (22.00).
Evan Rhinesmith took second in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:00.42. He was also second in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.49). David Birrer grabbed second place in the 200 butterfly (2:01.18), with teammate Robert Fozkos in third in the event (2:02.52).
Eric Vaughn finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.50. He added a third place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:01.38), as well. Elijah Sanders was third in the 500 free with a time of 4:59.29.
The Little Giant quartet of Vaughn, Rhinesmith, Adam Current, and Blaine Cooper-Surma took second in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing in 3:35.00. Blackwell, Vaughn, Cooper-Surma, and Vetor finished second in the 400 free relay (3:14.19), ahead of teammates Mathew Routh, Chris Kermin, Jordan Extine, and Steve Zajac in third place (3:22.72).
Wabash will compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships February 12-14 at the Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio.
