Distance Runners Lead Little Giants at DePauw

The Wabash distance runners earned three top-10 finishes to help guide the Little Giant track and field team to an eighth-place finish at Friday's Tiger Indoor Invitational at DePauw University.

The Little Giants opened the meet with a second-place finish in the distance medley. The quartet of Kevin McCarthy, Andre Adeyemi, Spencer Sheridan, and Micah Milliman finished with a time of 10:37.65 to score eight team points for Wabash. The Little Giants' "B" team consisting of Colin Dunlap, Lemi Laki, Garret Bonk, and Bill Digman grabbed third place with a time of 10:54.79.

Bonk scored a sixth-place finish in the 800 with a time of 1:59.94. Wes Chamblee was eighth in the 400 (51.50).

A week after setting the Wabash indoor record in the shot put, Matt Scheller posted another good mark at 13.88 meters (45 feet, 6-1/2 inches) to finish seventh. Teammate Kyle Edwards was eighth in the shot with a mark of 13.79 meters (45 feet, 3 inches).

Wabash scored a total of 18 points to finish eighth overall. Indiana State won the meet with 123 points, followed by Rend Lake (110), Vincennes (90), Indianapolis (81.50), Ohio Northern (43), Rose-Hulman (38), and Cedarville (34). Wilmington (14.50), DePauw (6), and Valparaiso (6) completed the team scoring.

The Little Giants will be back in action February 13 at the Hoosier Hills Invitational at Indiana University.
