National Powers Too Much For Wabash Tennis Team

The Little Giants faced two nationally-ranked tennis powers Saturday in Gambier, Ohio. Wabash lost 9-0 to the 25th-ranked University of Chicago team, followed by a 9-0 loss to eighth-ranked Kenyon in the evening.

Senior Ryan Waldon pushed his second flight of singles play to three sets and a tiebreaker before eventually falling 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (6) to Paul Namkoong from the University of Chicago. The Maroons took the remaining five singles matches in straight sets.

Jay Horrey and Peter Gunderman fell 8-4 to the Chicago duo of Garrett Brinker and Steve Salterelli at number one doubles. Horrey and Gunderman lost 8-3 to Kenyon's Daniel Becker and Charles Brody later in the day. 

Kenyon swept Chicago 9-0 in an earlier session Saturday.

Wabash is currently 3-2 for the season. The Little Giants will play host to Grace College and Earlham College Saturday at the Collett Tennis Center.
