Little Giant Baseball Team Returns from Florida

The Wabash College baseball team returned from Florida on Sunday with an overall record of 8-6, going 6-5 over its one-week stay in Fort Myers.

The Little Giants saw a successful trip end, unfortunately, the same way it began. Wabash lost its final two games of the trip on Sunday, falling 8-0 and 9-8 to Clarkson University.

Newcomers Nick George (West Lafayette, IN/Harrison) (photo) and Jared Bogan (Struthers, OH/Struthers) led the Little Giants offensively in the final two southern games. George, a sophomore second baseman, had two hits in each game, finishing the day 4-for-7 with a double and a run scored. Bogan, a freshman third baseman, tallied three hits in two games, including a double off the left-center field wall in the first game with Clarkson. Sophomore Bill Goff (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) saw his seven-game hitting streak come to an end in the first contest, but responded with two hits in the final game. Goff scored two runs and had two RBIs in the second contest for the Little Giants. Sophomore outfielder Tyler Nance (Celebration, FL/Celebration) added two RBIs in the final game on Sunday, as well.

The Little Giants return to Crawfordsville to open the home portion of the 2003 season on Saturday, March 22 with a nine-inning contest against Olivet College. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. The two teams will play two seven-inning games on Sunday afternoon beginning at noon.
