DeYoung Earns All-Amercian Honors at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

Wabash College senior Peter DeYoung (Evansville, IN/Bosse) took fourth place to earn All-American honors at the 2003 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, held Friday and Saturday at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.

DeYoung cleared 6 feet, 9-3/4 inches to claim a spot on the championship podium while setting a personal best indoor mark.

"Peter deserves this honor," said Wabash head track and field coach Rob Johnson. "He's battled back from a serious back injury to reach this level. He and assistant coach Star Smith-Ray have both spent a lot of time preparing for this chance."

DeYoung earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors earlier this month after winning the conference indoor meet with by clearing 6 feet, 9 inches to automatically qualify for the nationals.
