Another weekend - another round of fast times from the Wabash indoor track and field team.
One week after the Little Giant distance medley relay team shattered the school record in the distance medley relay, the mark fell once again at the Anderson University Fred Wilt Invitational Saturday. The quartet of Micah Milliman, Wes Chambell, Garret Bonk, and Kevin McCarthy trimmed almost 13 seconds off last weekend's time, finishing second at the Anderson meet with a makr of 10:11.81.
Junior Emmanuel Aouad also posted his fastest time of the season in the 55-meter hurdles Friday night at the Denison Last Chance Invite. Aouad turned in a time of 7.73 to reach the NCAA provisional qualifying and a possible spot at the national championship meet later this month at Rose-Hulman.
Wabash posted nine top-five finishes at Anderson Saturday, including two first places. Freshman Donovan White won the mile run with his fastest time of the year, finishing in 4:26.75. Kevin McCarthy added a first place finish in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:36.75.
Aouad returned Saturday to run with teammate Wade Heiny in the 55-meter hurdles. Aouad took second (7.77) in the finals, while Heiny turned in his best time of the year with an 8.06 performance. Alex Moseman was second in the weight throw with a mark of 15.39 meters (50 feet, 6 inches), also a season-best effort.
The Little Giants closed the meet with a second place finish in the 1600-meter relay. Chamblee, Andre Adeyemi, Jake Zielinski, and Spencer Sheridan turned in a time of 3:27.24.
Matt Scheller was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 13.62 meters (44 feet, 8-1/4 inches). Teammate Kyle Edwards just missed a top-five spot after post a mark of 13.48 meters (44 feet, 2-3/4 inches).
