Little Giants Take Sixth at University of Indy Track and Field Invite

The Wabash College track and field team finished sixth out 20 teams at the Univeristy of Indianapolis Invitational, held Saturday at the IUPUI track complex.

Sophomore Zach Eichel (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) led the Little Giants with a second-place finish in the 10,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 34:07.48. Teammate Ethan Paul (Evansville, IN/Reitz Memorial) took third place with a time of 34:23.68.

Senior Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) finished third in the 1,500-meter run (4:07.24), while junior Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) was seventh (4:10.54). Ruge added a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:00.36.

Jason Lloyd (Bolingbrook, IL/Hales Franciscan) took fifth in the 400-meter dash (51.96) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.69). Adam Futscher (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) took fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 46.13 meters. Senior Caleb Ishman (Gary, IN/Emerson Visual and Performing Arts) added a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw with a final distance of 45.47 meters.

Wabash finished with 43 points. Saginaw Valley State University won the meet with a total 132.5 points. The University of Indianapolis was second (124.5 points), Albion took third (94 points), while St. Joseph's College was fourth (80 points). Ferris State University finshed just ahead of Wabash with 53 points.
