Thinclads Take Fourth at DePauw Invite

Wabash rode 13 top-five finishes Saturday to finish in fourth place at the 2009 DePauw Outdoor Invitational.

The Little Giants did not have an individual champion. Emmanuel Aoud scored a second-place finish with a 6.70 meter mark in the long jump. Matt Scheller added a second in the shot put with a distance of 13.34 meters. Kevin McCarthy crossed the finish line in second place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:59.62, while teammate Seth Einterz took fifth place (4:03.86). Wes Chamblee and Aouad grabbed two of the top-five spots in the 400-meter hurdles. Chamblee was second with a time of 55.63, while Aouad grabbed fifth place at finishing in 56.00.

Aouad (right) and Wade Heiny took third and fourth places, respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles. Aouad finished in 15.14, while Heiny was just behind in 15.55. Hugh Jackson was third in the 800-meter run (1:57.48), as was Bill Digman in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:00.86). Brent Banach added a third place finish in the javelin (51.15 meters).

Alex Moseman picked up a fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.92 meters. Jackson was the top finisher for Wabash in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:31.08.  

Wabash scored a total of 84 points, trailing Vincennes (161 points), Taylor (112), and Indiana Wesleyan (109.5). Lewis (82.5), Wittenberg (41), Illinois Wesleyan (39.5), DePauw (39), Case Western (37.5), Valparaiso (31), and Butler (3) completed the team scoring.

Wabash will compete at the annual Indiana Little State Invitational Saturday in Indianapolis.
