Futscher, Ishman Take Individual Titles at Manchester Invitational

Wabash College seniors Adam Futscher (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) and Caleb Ishman (Gary, IN/Emerson Visual and Performing Arts) took first place in their individual events at Saturday's Manchester College Track and Field Invitational. Futscher captured first place in the javelin throw, while Ishman took the hammer throw title.

Futscher topped teammate Jeff Gravenstreter (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) with a throw of 50.68 meters to take first place in the javelin throw. Gravenstreter took second with a throw of 45.00 meters.

Ishman topped the hammer throw list with a distance of 47.99 meters. Sophomore Sean Gerold (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) took third with a throw of 39.02 meters. Futscher was fifth in the hammer with a long throw of 35.02 meters. Gerold also added a fourth-place finish in the shot put (11.76 meters).

Josh Waters (Muncie, IN/Burris Laboratory) added a second-place finish in the high jump to the Wabash team points total, clearing 5-8. Waters also took fourth in the triple jump (10.93 meters).

Steve Cottom (Rosedale, IN/Riverton Parke) took third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.87. Joe Bombagetti (Crown Point, IN/Crown Point) also took third in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.06. Ethan Paul (Evansville, IN/Reitz Memorial) was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:43).

Wabash finished fourth out of five teams in the overall standings. Taylor University won the competition with 240 points. The Little Giants scored 85 points overall.
