Senior Jay Horrey earned a place on the All-North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Team for the fourth consecutive year after being voted to the First Team by the NCAC coaches Monday. He and doubles partner, fellow senior Sean Clerget, combined to earn Second Team All-NCAC honors.
The New Albany, Indiana native led Wabash with a 17-11 record at number one singles, including a 15-10 mark in spring season play. He finished with a career mark of 73-37 as a singles player, setting the Wabash career record for wins while finishing fifth in career winning percentage (.664). He finished the season with a record of 13-17 in doubles play overall, giving him a career mark of 67-55, also setting a school record for career wins. Horrey (right) was a First Team All-NCAC pick in 2006 and 2007 and was a Second Team selection in 2008. He was named the conference's Newcomer of the Year in 2006, and most recently was named the Wabash Student-Athlete of the Year by the Indianapolis Association of Wabash Men.
Clerget (left), a product of Central Catholic High School in Lafayette, Indiana, joined with Horrey to finish 9-14 for the season and 7-13 in the spring at number one doubles. The duo helped the Little Giants to a third-place finish at the 2009 NCAC Men's Tennis Tournament, the highest finish ever by a Wabash team.
