Deborah Grossman-Garber currently serves as an Assistant Commissioner for Higher Education for the State of Rhode Island, with responsibilities for academic policy and planning. Prior to this appointment, she held the position of Director of the Office of Student Learning, Outcomes Assessment, and Accreditation at the University of Rhode Island. She is currently the Vice President for the New England Educational Assessment Network (NEean) and was appointed this past year as a national Teagle Assessment Scholar. She is a founding editorial board member for the upcoming new journal, Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness. Prior to her involvements with academic assessment, Deborah worked in the College of the Environment and Life Sciences at URI, where she was Director for Undergraduate Programs. Deborah originally trained in Ancient History and Mediterranean Archaeology at the University of California-Berkeley.
