Little Giants Ranked 18th in Latest Preseason Poll

Wabash is ranked 18th in the 2009 D3football.com Preseason poll, released Tuesday afternoon.

The Little Giants, coming off a 10-2 season in 2008, picked up a total of 194 points from the panel of 25 Division III college coaches, sports information directors, and media members who participate in the voting process. Wabash finished the 2008 season ranked 18th after rising to as high as third in the web site's weekly poll.

Defending national champion Mount Union earned the top spot in the poll and received 23 of 25 total first place votes. Runner-up Wisconsin-Whitewater garnered the remaining two first-place votes.

Wabash opens the 2009 season at home against Denison on September 12. The Little Giants face only one other opponent ranked in the preseason top-25 poll. DePauw received 98 points to earn the final spot in the rankings. Wabash and DePauw will meet in the 116th Monon Bell Classic on Saturday, November 14 in Greencastle, Indiana.

The Little Giants are ranked 10th by the Sporting News and 19th by Lindy's College Football Annual in each publication's preseason polls.
