Wabash Community Warned About Email Scams

Wabash IT Services continues its warning to the Wabash community to be on the alert for scam "phishing" emails that are being sent to people on campus.  The messages often claim there is a problem with your Webmail or email account, and ask you to send your username and password to avoid having your account deleted or disabled.  Some messages may ask you to go to a specific web address and enter your Wabash College username and passwords.  These emails may include names or email addresses of Wabash people, and often appear legitimate.

Wabash IT Services will NEVER ask for your password via email.  If you receive a message asking for your password, even if it comes from the Help Desk, the Wabash "System Administrator", or an IT Services staff member, you can be sure it is a hoax and an attempt to gain access to your personal information.   If you receive such a message, you should not respond to it, but rather delete it immediately.

If you recently received one of these messages and replied with your password, you should reset your password immediately.
