White and McCarthy Combine to Win the 48th Wabash Hokum Karem

Sophomores Donavan White and Kevin McCarthy held off the rest of the field to finish in first place at the 48th Wabash College Hokum Karem Saturday morning. The Little Giants finished second overall as a team at the six-mile relay event, which was created by former Wabash coach J. Owen Huntsman. (Results are available in pdf format here.)

Each runner completes a series of one-mile loops in the Hokum Karem, running in a relay format until both teammates have completed three miles. White and McCarthy took the top spot with a time of 28:42, finishing 15 seconds ahead of the second-place team of Michael Foerster and Kyle Murray from Marian University. White and McCarthy's time was just 35 seconds off the meet record of 28:07 set in 2003. (View photos from the 2009 race here.)

Junior Seth Einterz and freshman Anton Crepinsek finished 10th overall in the final scoring and 12th overall, cruising the loop in 29:50. Grahm Johnson and Kenny Farris were 11th in the team totals and 13th overall with a time of 29:55.

The team of Justin Allen and Michael Gough helped the Little Giants break the tie with the University of Indianapolis in the team scoring. Allen and Gough were 16th overall, while the fourth pair of runners for the Greyhounds, Brandon McGloshen and Jon Duty, crossed the finish line in 26th place.
