Several Freshmen Make Debut in Denison Win

Wabash’s lopsided 56-7 win over Denison provided plenty of late-game playing time for Wabash freshmen. But two members of the Class of 2013 saw lots of playing time early.

Defensively, Pat Clegg was the only freshman to start the game. The 6-1, 237-pound defensive lineman is from Clarendon Hills, IL. Erik Hackett, Indianapolis Arlington, rotated at center throughout the early parts of the game. Hackett can play both ways at 6-2, 320 pounds.
Most notably to fans was the first appearance of Dayton, OH quarterback Chase Belton and Delta High School running back Kyle Stevens. Stevens scored Wabash’s last touchdown and showed a power-running style. He is a 6-foot, 2-inch, 213-pound running back.
Several freshmen saw action on defense for the Little Giants. Kyle Bottos, cornerback from Lowell; Austin O’Neal, a Griffith linebacker; Sam Smith, a defensive back from Bloomington, IL;Thomas Ballard an Indianapolis linebacker; Vann Hunt, a running back/defensive back from Phoenix, AZ.
