Red Pack Takes Fifth at GLCA Championship

The Wabash College cross country team, behind top-15 finishes by senior Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) and freshman Dennis Frazee (Griffith, IN/Calumet), finished fifth out of 10 teams at the annual Great Lakes Colleges Association Cross Country Championships, hosted by Earlham College on Saturday morning.

Ruge took 11th place out of 119 total runners in the individual results, finishing the 8k race with a time of 27:39. Frazee finished just one second behind in 12th place (27:40).

Junior Zach Eichel (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) was 35th (28:49), while senior Dan Sweet (West Bloomfield, MI/Culver Military Academy) was 39th (29:06). Sophomore Charles Wohlhuter (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville South) completed the scoring for Wabash with a 46th-place finish and a final time of 29:18.

Wabash finished with 134 total points. Albion College captured the team title with 27 points. DePauw University was second (70 points), while Kenyon College took third (122 points). The College of Wooster finished fourth with 123 points.

The Red Pack will run in the Indiana Intercollegiates on Friday afternoon at Indiana State University. The men's race is set to start at 3 p.m.
