Hudson Earns Final NCAC Player of the Week Honor

Senior quarterback Matt Hudson was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Football Player of the Week for the period ending November 14, 2009.

Hudson threw for 325 yards and three touchdown passes in the Little Giants' 32-19 win over DePauw in the 116th Monon Bell Classic. The victory helped Wabash earn its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Hudson's 325-yard effort was the third-best by a Wabash quarterback in Bell game, and the best of Hudson's career in the annual rivalry. He finished the game 19-of-30, and rushed for 28 yards on four carries. His biggest gain of the contest came in the fourth quarter on a fourth-and-one quarterback sneak that extended the offensive series for the Little Giants, eventually culminating in a 92-yard, 14 play drive that produced the final touchdown of the contest for Wabash and secured the win.

The senior quarterback moved into second place on the NCAC career touchdown passing list, tossing his 78th career scoring pass. He also became the second player in Wabash history to throw for more than 2,000 yards in three consecutive season, despite playing in only eight games to this point in the season after missing two contests with a rib injury.

Hudson will lead his Little Giant team into their NCAA Division III Football Playoffs first round game at Illinois Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. (EST) in Bloomington, Illinois.
