Little Giants Drop Soccer Conference Opener at Oberlin

Wabash lost its first soccer match of the 2003 North Caost Athletic Conference season on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-0 at Oberlin College.

The Little Giants had eight shots on goal, but could not score on Yeomen goalkeeper Lincoln Smith. Sophomore Will McAdams (Carmel, IN/Carmel), who missed the first few games of the season with an injury, started the game in goal for the Little Giants but came out after the first three minutes. Junior Jon Taggart (Carmel, IN/Hampton Roads Academy) came in to make nine saves.

Oberlin's Josh Treuhaft scored the first goal of the match nine minutes into the contest. The Yoemen were shut out for the remainder of the half, but scored three second-half goals for the victory.

Aaron Kunkle (Ft. Wayne, IN/Concordia Lutheran) and Colin Smith (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) led the Wabash attack, each finishing with two shots on goal.

Wabash falls to 3-5 with the loss, 0-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. The Little Giants return to action next Saturday afternoon in a 1 p.m. home match against NCAC foe Denison University.
