Chamblee, Frederick Top D3football.com All-Region Picks

Junior Wes Chamblee and senior Addrian Frederick were joined by senior Evan Isaacs and junior Kody LeMond on the 2009 D3football.com All-North Region Team.

Chamblee (left) was a First Team All-Region selection as a kick returner after leading the nation through the regular season with 17.6 yards per punt return average, setting the Wabash single season record. He had 11 returns for a total of 194 yards in 11 games, three punt returns shy of qualifying as the national statistics leader. Chamblee's 86-yard punt return for a touchdown at Allegheny was his longest of the season. He also averaged 20.9 yards per kickoff return to lead the Little Giants in that category. He earned First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as a return specialist and was a Second Team All-NCAC pick as a wide receiver. 

 

Frederick (right) earned First Team All-Region honors after leading the Little Giants and the North Coast Athletic Conference in interceptions with nine despite playing in only eight games. His nine picks set the Wabash single-season record. Frederick picked off four passes against Wittenberg, tying the the Wabash record for interceptions in a game set by Joe Haklin ’73 against Hanover in 1971. Frederick tied with five other Division III players for the most interceptions this season. He was fifth among Wabash defenders in total tackles with 42 total tackles to earn First Team All-NCAC honors. Frederick finished his career with 15 interceptions, placing him fourth on the Wabash all-time list.

Isaacs (left) was a Second Team All-Region pick on the offensive line. The senior tackle started all 11 games for the Little Giants at left tackle, helping Wabash to the 13th-best scoring offense in the nation. Isaacs graded out a 97-percent on the line for the season. He was part of a group that allowed only 10 sacks for the year while producing the 22nd-best total offense and 29th-best passing offense in the nation. The Little Giants ranked 24th in the nation in total sacks allowed per game with an average of .91. Isaacs was a First Team All-NCAC pick in 2008 and 2009.

 

LeMond (right) was a  Third Team All-North Region selection after earning Second Team honors in 2008. He became the first Wabash and NCAC player to post back-to-back seasons with 1,000 receiving yards, making 65 catches for 1,059 yards and 14 TDs to lead the Little Giants in all three categories. LeMond was 34th in the nation in receiving yards per game (96.27) and 61st in receptions per game (5.91). He averaged 8.18 points a game with a total of 15 touchdowns, scoring an additional TD on a fumble recovery in the Little Giants' victory at Oberlin. He caught a season-high 10 passes for 197 yards and four TDs at Wooster. LeMond ranks third all-time in Wabash football history with 28 TD receptions, is tied for sixth in career receptions (142), and is sixth in receiving yards (2,364).

The D3football.com All-Region team is selected by sports information directors from each Division III conference and D3football.com staff members from nominations submitted by SIDs. Over 700 nominations were submitted nationally. The D3football.com All-America team will be named Saturday, December 19 at the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl for the NCAA Division III Football National Championship.
