Record-Setting Day at the 2010 Little Giant Track Invit.

Wabash senior Emmanuel Aoud enjoyed a record-setting day in the 55-meter hurdles at Saturday's Little Giant Indoor Invitational held at the Robert H. Johnson Track. While no team score was kept, several meet records fell in the first competition of the 2010 season, including the meet and Wabash records in Aouad's NCAA-qualifying run in the 55-meter hurdles.

Aouad won the hurdles with a time of 7.61, eclipsing his own school record while easily meeting the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.74 in just his first race of the season. Freshman John Haley took third place in his first collegiate meet, crossing the finish line in 8.13.

Haley and Aouad joined Wes Chamblee and Jake Zielinski to set a new meet mark in the 1600-meter relay, winning the race in a time of 3:26.66. The quartet added a second-place finish in the 800-meter relay, finishing in 1:32.14.

Jake Watermann won the 800-meter run (2:01.22), while Kevin McCarthy (left) easily outdistanced the rest of the field in the mile run, posting a winning time of 4:21.03.

Matt Knox took second place in the pole vault, clearing 4.25 meters (13 feet, 11-1/4 inches), while teammate Sam Glowinski finished fourth after clearing 3.80 meters (12 feet, 5-1/2 inches). Garret Bonk was third in the 400-meter dash, finishing just ahead of fellow Little Giant runner Chet Riddle (53.17).

Three other meet records fell by the wayside in Saturday's competition. Kentucky State's Jamaree Gordon set a new mark in the 55-meter dash, winning the race in 6.40. The University of Indianapolis set two new relay marks. The men's 800-meter team won the race while setting a new meet record time of 1:30.44, while the women's 800-meter team posted a new meet record time of 1:44.85.
