Three National Fraternities on the Wabash Campus will come together Sunday to talk about policy on Alcohol, Hazing, and general perceptions within Greek life. Kappa Sigma, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and Theta Delta Chi are the fraternities presenting on the topics to share their policies and practices with the Wabash community.
The goal is to facilitate conversation and to make clear the policies that the represented fraternities uphold. Aaron Bonar ’10 will present on Kappa Sigma’s alcohol policy, discussing the dos and don’ts from their national fraternity’s perspective while Michael Sexton ’11 and Dirk Garriott ’11 present on Tau Kappa Epsilon’s policy on pledgeship. Jacob Surface ’11, representing Theta Delta Chi, will have a presentation on perception, demonstrating that while being focused on one area, there are also other events taking place.
All three topics are items of concern at colleges and universities across the nation. These fraternities have taken the step to present these programs in hope that the other fraternities, both on the Wabash campus and beyond, will reflect on their procedures and make changes as necessary.
This event is hosted by the W.A.R. (Wabash Acts Responsibly) Council, a student-run group that promotes responsible behavior both on and off campus. All freshmen, fraternity officers, and resident assistants are encouraged to attend. General attendance is open to the Wabash Community.
The event will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, in Hays 104.
