Little Giants Third at DePauw Indoor Track Invite

Jake Zielinski and Emmanuel Aouad scored first place individual finishes while Wabash added two relay victories at Saturday's Tiger Indoor Invitational hosted by DePauw University. The Little Giants finished third out of seven teams overall.

Zielinski crossed the finish line first in the 400-meter dash with a winning time of 51.41. Garret Bonk took fourth place (52.33), while Chet Riddle was eighth (54.11). Aouad advanced to the finals of the 55-meter hurdles by posting the top preliminaries time of 7.90. He followed with a win in the finals with a time of 7.73. Patrick Posthauer also earned a spot in the finals with a prelim time of 8.34. His finals time of 8.52 was good for eighth place.

Wabash won the distance medley relay with a time of 10:38.28. The Little Giants' 800-meter relay team also finished in first place with a time of 1:31.32.

Freshman Jake Waterman finished second in the 3000-meter run with a time of 1:57.13.Kevin McCarthy was sixth overall (1:59.80). Justin Allen took third place in the one-mile run by finishing in 4:29.10, just ahead of teammate Jacob Surface in fourth place (4:43.41).

Wes Chamblee grabbed fourth place in the 200-meter dash with his time of 23.32. Matt Knox was sixth in the pole vault (4.20 meters; 13 feet, 9-1/4 inches). Austin Hodges added two points to the team total with a seventh-place finish in the 55-meter dash finals (6.84). Kenny Farris was seventh in the 3,000-meter run (9:10.97), as was Vann Hunt in the long jump (6.14 meters; 20 feet, 1-3/4 inches).

Wabash will compete at the Hoosier Hills Open at Indiana University on Friday evening.
