Swimmers Must Play Waiting Game

Wabash swimmers will now have to wait until March 5 to learn if they will be participating in the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championship Meet in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Six Little Giants were not able to improve their national qualifying times at Saturday's last chance meet at Kenyon.

Evan Rhinesmith came within 2/100ths of his "B" cut time in the 100-yard breaststroke from the NCAC Championship Meet one week ago. Rhinesmith won the event at Saturday's Kenyon Invitational with a time of 57.47, narrowly missing his conference time of 57.45. Robert Fozkos posted a time of 21.56 in the 50 free, falling short of his earlier "B" cut time of 21.48. Adam Current and Eric Vaughn were also close to topping their season-best times in the 100 butterfly. Current won the race Saturday with a time of 50.70, slightly off his best time of 50.58 last week. Vaughn finished seventh with a time of 51.88 after posting a time of 50.80 at the NCAC meet in Canton, Ohio.

Wabash finished sixth out of 15 teams while competing in only a handful of events in an effort to improve the national qualifying times.

The psyche sheet for the 2010 NCAA Championship Meet is expected to be available by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 5. Those swimmers posting the fastest national times will compete at the Nationals March 17-20.
