Saturday Sweep Helps Wabash to Fourth Win

 

The Little Giant tennis team picked up two home wins Saturday. Wabash scored a 7-2 victory over Elmhurst in the evening to improve to 4-1 after scoring a 6-3 win against Oberlin in the morning.

Wabash picked up two points over Oberlin doubles play. Ricky Ritter and Evan Bayless scored an 8-3 win in the second flight, while Elliot Dewey and Lewis Towne were 8-2 winners at number three doubles. Ritter added a straight-set win at number three singles (6-1, 6-2). Dewey blanked Oberlin's Joe Leffler (6-0, 6-0) at number four singles. Towne was also perfect in the sixth flight of singles play, scoring a 6-0, 6-0 win against Jonathan Wachtel. Ian Leonard added a 6-3, 6-1 win at number five singles.

 

Ritter and Bayless started Wabash with a win over Elmhurst at number two doubles with a score of 8-2. Dewey and Towne improved to 5-0 in doubles play with an 8-2 win in the third flight. Zach Lowry picked up a 7-6 (2), 6-1 victory at number one singles. Dewey scored a straight sets win at number three singles (6-1, 6-2). Leonard won 6-2, 6-3 at fourth singles, while Towne was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at number five singles. Bayless closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win at number six singles.

Wabash improved to 4-2 overall with the weekend sweep. The Little Giants return to action Saturday with home matches against Illinois Wesleyan and Marian University of Indianapolis.
