Chamblee, Haltom Receive NCAC Honors

Wabash junior track and field athlete Wes Chamblee was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week after winning the inaugural NCAC Indoor Pentathlon at Oberlin Saturday. Senior Chase Haltom was named to the 2010 NCAC Men's Basketball All-Tournament Team after helping the Little Giants advance to the semifinals of the tourney before losing by one point to Wittenberg.

Chamblee (left) scored a total of 3,240 points in the five-event competition, setting a new Wabash record. He won the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:50.50 and had second place finishes in the high jump and shot put. He also competed in the 55-meter hurdles and the long jump. 

 

Haltom (right) scored 17 points in the Little Giants' NCAC Tournament quarterfinal victory over Denison, connecting on 7-of-13 shots from the field and 3-of-7 three-point attempts. Haltom hit four three-pointers in Friday night's NCAC Semifinal game against Wittenberg, including a long range shot with 2:26 left to play in the game that completed a comeback from a 17-point deficit to give Wabash a 58-57 lead. Haltom led Wabash in scoring in the semifinal game with 16 points while shooting 6-of-11 from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
