Tennis Team Splits Spring Break Matches

Wabash picked up a 7-2 win Monday afternoon over Colby-Sawyer, but saw its winning streak snapped at three with a 6-3 loss to Wesleyan University on Tuesday.

The Little Giants scored two wins in double play on Monday, picking up an 8-0 sweep at number two doubles by Evan Bayless and Elliot Dewey. Ricky Ritter and Lewis Towne also claimed an 8-0 win at number three doubles.

Ian Leonard improved to 10-0 in singles play with a three-set (2-6, 6-3, 6-1) come-from-behind victory at number five singles. Peter Gunderman won in straight sets (6-4, 7-5) at number two singles. Ritter was a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 winner in the third flight of singles play. Dewey took a 6-3, 6-2 victory at number four singles, while Towne never lost a game in his 6-0, 6-0 victory at number six singles.

Dewey posted the only singles victory for the Little Giants against Wesleyan on Tuesday. He took a straight sets 6-1, 6-1 win in the fourth flight. Bayless and Dewey took an 8-3 victory at number two doubles, while Ritter and Towne were 8-3 winners at number three doubles.

Wabash will play its final match in Orlando on Wednesday against Ursinus.
