Three 6 Mafia Tickets on Sale in Bookstore

Three 6 Mafia, an Academy Award winning rap group, will perform at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 27. The group, formerly known as Backyard Posse, will play in Chadwick Court as this year’s National Act.

Wabash students are admitted free with their college ID. All other tickets are $20 and are available at the Wabash College Bookstore. No phone, internet, or e-mail sales are available for this show. The doors open at 7 p.m.

The group currently features original members DJ Paul and Juicy J. Lord Infamous occasional has performed with the group in recent years but is not considered to be with the group on a full-time basis.

Paul Beauregard (DJ Paul),  Jordan Houston (Juicy J), and Rick Dunigan (Lord Infamous) started the group as Backyard Posse in 1991 in Memphis. The group described its early music as “horrorcore” though Three 6 Mafia is considered more mainstream today.

The group’s biggest success came in 2006 when it became just the second African American act to win an Academy Award for Best Song. The group won for “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” from the “Hustle and Flow” soundtrack.

The group latest album “Laws of Power” is due out later this year.
