Wabash College will host Aracelis Girmay, winner of the 2009 GLCA New Writers Award in Poetry, on Monday, March 22. She will read from her book,
Teeth, at 8 p.m. in Center Hall, room 216. A reception and book signing will follow her reading in Center 206.
Aracelis Girmay’s book, Teeth, is a collection of poems published by Curbstone Press in 2007. Her poems have been published in Ploughshares, Bellevue Literary Review, Indiana Review, Callaloo, and MiPOesias, among other journals. Her collage-based picture book, Changing, Changing: Story and Collages, was published by George Braziller in 2005.
She has been a featured reader at the Udi Aloni Project Room, Studio Museum in Harlem, Bowery Poetry Club, and prisons in Trenton and Manhattan. A Cave Canem fellow, Girmay teaches writing workshops in New York and California.
Girmay’s reading is free and open to the public.
