Wabash scored two doubles points and grabbed three victories in singles play to defeat Albion 5-2 Friday afternoon in the opening round of the 2010 Great Lakes Colleges Association Men's Tennis Tournament.
Peter Gunderman and Ricky Ritter combined for an 8-5 victory in the second flight of doubles, while Lewis Towne and Ian Leonard won 8-4 at number three doubles. Ritter scored a three-set win at number three singles (6-1, 1-6, 6-2). Leonard was a 7-6 (4), 6-2 winner at number five singles, while Towne picked up a straight sets 6-0, 6-3 win at number six singles.
The Little Giants played top-seeded Kenyon in the second round of the tourney. The Lords, entering the weekend ranked seventh in the nation and second in the Central Region, defeated Wabash 5-0.
Wabash will play Allegheny College Saturday morning in the final round of the tournament.
