Tennis Falls in Marathon Match

The Wabash tennis team battled Allegheny College's squad for more than five hours in the final round of the 2010 Great Lakes Colleges Association Men's Tennis Tournament Saturday afternoon. Wabash took three points in doubles play, only to lose 5-4 to the Gators in the end.

The match took a total of five hours and 20 minutes to play, starting at nine o'clock in the morning.

Evan Bayless and Elliot Dewey combined for a 9-8 victory at number one doubles. Peter Gunderman and Ricky Ritter also scored a 9-8 win at number two doubles, while Ian Leonard and Lewis Towne controlled their number three doubles match with an 8-2 win.

Three of the six singles matches went to three sets, with Allegheny rallying to win all three. Ian Leonard scored the only singles victory for the Little Giants with a straight sets 7-6, 6-4 win in the fifth flight.

Wabash completed the tournament with a 1-2 record to move to 13-8 overall for the season.
