Freshman Jake Waterman has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Distance Runner of the Week for the period ending April 12, 2010.
Waterman won the 800-meter run at the 2010 Indiana Intercollegiate Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet Saturday. He qualified for the finals with the best time among any competitor in the preliminaries, finishing in 1:54.68. Waterman won the finals by posting his best time of the season, winning with a mark of 1:52.79. His time is the sixth-fastest among Division III runners in the nation to this point in the season and is the fastest of any non-senior runner in the nation.
Waterman, a Noblesville High School graduate, was also part of the Little Giants' second-place 1600-meter relay team. He combined with Garett Bonk, John Haley, and Jake Zielinski to finish the relay in 3:16.62.
