The Little Giants were outshot by the visitors 26-12, with Wabash goalie Graham Bailey (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) facing 11 shots on goal. The Little Giants fired four shots at the DePauw goalie, but were unable to find the back of the net.
"We simply did not come out on the field ready to play soccer," said coach George Perry.
The Tigers scored 5:56 into the match when J.R. Foster connected for the first of his three goals in the match. Wabash had two good scoring attempts in the first half on shots by Momodou Jagne (Banjul, Gambia/Gambia), but could not get on the scoreboard.
The Little Giants had beaten DePauw the previous two seasons when the Tigers were ranked in the top-20 in the NSCAA poll. DePauw had fallen out of the poll this week after losing to Ohio Wesleyan. The Tigers are currently ranked fourth in the Great Lakes Region in the NSCAA poll.
Wabash (1-5, 0-1) will travel to Denison on Saturday for a North Coast Athletic Conference match at 1 p.m.
