Golfers Fall To Sixth at Third NCAC Tourney

The Wabash College golf team entered the final round of third North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament tied for fourth, but dropped two strokes to Denison and 17 to Wooster to fall to sixth in the team standings.

The Little Giants fired a 326 on Saturday to tie Denison and Wooster, led by Sam Russell's opening round 79. Russell followed with an 81 on Sunday to finish with a 160. Charlie Kelly tied Russell for 25th place overall, dropping six strokes off his first-round 83 to finish with a 77 and total of 160 strokes. Jordan Koch finished one place back overall in 29th place with a 161 (84-77). Luke Moton fired a 168 (82-86), while Kyle Nagdeman shot a 171 (82-89). 

Wittenberg won the team title by shooting a 592. Ohio Wesleyan was second with a 608). Allegheny was third (613), followed by Wooster (630), and Denison (645). Kenyon (667), Hiram (673), and Oberlin (770) completed the team scoring.

Wabash remains in fifth place in the conference standings after three tournaments with the final two rounds of the NCAC Championship Series to take place May 1-2 at Kenyon College. The  Little Giants have shot a total of 1,928 strokes in the previous six rounds of tournament play. Wooster is just ahead of the Little Giants in fourth place with a score of 1899, while Denison trails Wabash with 1,973 strokes.
