Wabash Cruises to 14-3 Win at US Steel Yard

Wabash scored in each of the first seven innings Thursday night against Elmhurst College, never trailing in a 14-3 win over the Bluejays at the US Steel Yard in Gary, Indiana.

Tanner Coggins opened the scoring with an RBI triple in the first to score leadoff hitter Chris Deig. Coggins scored one batter later on a single from John Holm. The Little Giants added a run in the second and two in the third before exploding for four runs in the fourth.
Coggins finished the game going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Holm added two hits and three RBI, while Deig and David Seibel each finished with two hits, as well. Seibel added two RBI, while Deig produced one run.
Little Giant pitching combined for 14 strikeouts while giving up just five hits in the victory. Keegan Leckrone threw five innings to pick up his second win of the year. He struck out seven to equal his season high and allowed only two hits and two earned runs. Eric Foust worked two innings of shutout baseball with three strikeouts while giving up one hit. Logan Frederick balanced two hits with two strikeouts in his lone inning on the mound, while Blake Mattingly closed out the ninth inning with two hits and two strikeouts.
Wabash (17-20) returns to North Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday with its final two league games of the season against Wittenberg. The Little Giants need one victory to secure one of four spots in the upcoming NCAC Tourney. First pitch is currently set for 12 p.m. in final game at Mud Hollow Field.
