Immersion learning continues into late spring at Wabash College. A group of juniors majoring in education will be teaching in Chicago the week of May 10. More than a dozen Wabash men will be traveling to Paris and Madrid.
The European trip will be led by English Professor Eric Freeze and Spanish Professor Isabel Jaen-Portillo.
"The course investigates the various socio-cultural forces that influenced the rise of modernity specifically in Paris and Madrid. In Paris, students will visit sites important to American expatriate authors Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, and Djuna Barnes," Freeze wrote in the first blog entry about the trip.
Students will be teaching in Chicago as part of the Chicago Urban Education & Cultural Experience. "Wabash students are placed with host teachers in a variety of CPS schools, and part of their experience in the schools includes planning and teaching lessons during the week," Teacher Education Professor Michelle Pittard wrote.
Students will leave later this spring for the summer experience in Ecuador. The Wabash College Glee Club is also traveling to Ecuador this summer.
