Wabash Quartet Garner NCAC Tennis Awards

Wabash tennis players Zach Lowry, Ian Leonard, and Elliot Dewey received Honorable Mention All-North Coast Athletic Conference from the league coaches on Thursday, while Little Giant Head Coach Jason Hutchison was named the NCAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.

Lowry, a sophomore, was an Honorable Mention selection after picking up ten victories at number singles for the Little Giants in 2010. Leonard posted a 22-9 record in his freshman season, including a 16-5 mark at number five singles. Dewey was 16-10 overall as a freshman on the tennis team. He was 11-7 at number four singles.

Hutchison guided the Wabash squad to its best record in school history, finishing 17-11 for the year. The Little Giants also took third place at the NCAC Tournament for the second straight season. Hutchison has an overall record of 68-89 in six seasons at Wabash. He shared the NCAC Coach of the Year Award with Allegheny's Jared Luteran in 2007.

"The credit for this award really goes to the team for pushing themselves through the entire season," Hutchison said.  "I wouldn’t have gotten the award if it wasn’t for them.

"We should have a strong recruiting class coming in next year. Add that to our third-place conference finish for the second year in a row, and it's clear our sites are being set higher. Our goal now as a team is to try and qualify for the national tournament."
