In Professor of Religion Stephen Webb’s Chapel Talk “What I Learned about Wabash on my Trip around the World,” he spoke about some of his experiences last spring teaching with the Semester at Sea program.
Approximately 650 students, 50 faculty, and another 300 administrators, staff, and crew embarked on a semester-long journey on a modified cruise ship. The ship stopped in several countries along the way such as China, Japan, Vietnam, India, South Africa, Ghana, Brazil, and Ethiopia.
Webb graduated from Wabash in 1983 and began teaching at Wabash in 1987 so his Semester at Sea experience was the first time he had taught women. While he taught multiple classes during his trip, his favorite course was Global Christianity.
He gave several statistics on Christianity worldwide and how those changed during the last century. He also shared stories and photos from many of the stops the group made. He wrapped up his talk with the top five most embarrassing things he said on the trip, followed by the top five things he learned about Wabash.
